Good News Monday!

Message from Jim Woodward, chair of Good Samaritan Foundation.
We hope that this newsletter finds you and your family well during this very scary time. We are glad to report we have been able to maintain many important services at our Rose Park Neighborhood Center. Our staff are courageous and dedicated and good people.
Many organizations have had to limit their services due to COVID-19. It is our hope to safely remain open and meet as many needs as possible. Thanks again to our employees and our many partners, volunteers, and founders who are helping us make such a difference.

Food Pantry Update

Over the past 11 weeks, we have distributed nearly $30,000 in food to an average of 300 individuals a week.
On May 14th, we partnered with the Somali Bantus of Utah for a food distribution event at the center.
Collectively 120 families were served!

ELL Program Update

Our English Program continues during the COVID-19 restrictions. A big THANK YOU to our volunteers who have continued to teach students and are instrumental in the students' progress!!
Dylan Hume, Elle Moulton, Sam West, Mayra Serrato, Rachel MacNeill, Rachel Cole, Boris Tirado, Hanin Sheikh and Julie Hilton!

Neighborhood Garden

One of the neighborhood needs was to create a space where our neighbors can gather to garden! Last fall, three garden beds were filled with soil and winterized! Our wonderful neighbor and supporter Reyna has been leading this effort along with her children. Reyna is originally from Puebla, Mexico and has been living in the country over 15 years. Gardening has a special place because it reminds her of home. It is also a way for her to teach and feed her children. We are learning alongside Reyna and many individuals will benefit from the garden!

Emergency Assistance

Rose Park Neighborhood Center has a small emergency fund that has been used for crisis rent, utilities, car repair, and other needs. We have distributed over $10,000 in funds to 15+ families who have been affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
Thank you to our generous donors for helping us meet the neighborhoods' needs.

To support our efforts, consider contributing to our emergency fund.

Upcoming Programs:

Computer Basics Program

Since transitioning to our online programs many of our students do not have the digital skills to effectively learn English online. We want to meet the need for digital literacy in the community while emphasizing the need to coordinate this in the students native language. This is a basic course that will assist them in transitioning into the English Language Learning Program (ELL) and/or the workforce.

Youth Digital Learning Intensive Program
We are offering a three week program for youth in the community. The course will focus on Google Digital Suites and applying what they learn.
